PROGRAM IDEAS

(Approximately 5-15 minutes)
These are ideas from various sources to be used for:
an additional program at a troop meeting, for patrol meetings, to reinforce or to practice old skills,
to review TF/2nd/1st Class skills, or to prepare for other activities. etc.

Show a movie on Scouting skills
Make a rope ladder
How to roll & break a flag
Tie some unusual knots (like a "Highwayman's knot" or "running bowline")
Make plaster casts of animal or bird tracks
Make Turk's Head neckerchief slides
Do leaf printing
Make indoor pioneering models
How to pass a knife & axe
Make personal measurement cards
Sharpen knives & axes
Camping weights (guess the weight of various items;
       then add them up and see the weight of the total pack)
Collect various leaves and have a quiz on them
Show how to make a fire using batteries & steel wool
Play Kim's Game
Practice whipping a rope
Paint totems & designs on packs, gear, etc.
Bandaging practice
Use estimation to the height & distance of a building or distance
Practice tying certain knots in the dark
Carve a patrol totem out of a bar of soap
Clean and cook a fresh fish
Try astronomy on a clear night
Play signal sink the ship at night using flashlights
Practice making snares
Patch & Sew up tents needing repair
Try making a fire by using flint & steel
Make a rope out of natural fibers
Climb an 18 foot rope
Construct a flagstaff from three Scout staffs using end-to-end lashings
