Selected comments on XVII by outsiders:

"Troop 17 was a troop I had in camp when I was a Commissioner at Sakima back in 1980. They were quite a troop to be remembered. Considering it has been 26 years and I still remember their Troop #, I guess that says a lot.

They were an amazing well-organized troop to the point that many on our staff felt they were militaristic, but to me I only saw a well-oiled troop with a high success rate, excited kids and many Eagles to boast about."

the troop song was sung by the many alumni who were present.
The troop provided an honor guard.

"...The entire troop was dispersed by 1500 with the main body on bikes... All in all it was a good Camporee...

"We were the only troop in pup tents, the only troop in full uniform, the only troop that could drill, and the only troop with all patrols receiving excellent ratings. Troop XVII made a very good showing for itself, and was recognized by all the camp officials as such..."

Richard G. Barnes, S.P.L.
